Check of a condition of components of a suspension bracket and steering

Components of the steering drive and suspension bracket should be checked regularly – their wear can serve as the reason of excessive and dangerous wear of tires, deteriorations in running characteristics and controllability of the car, and also increase in fuel consumption. More detailed information on components of a suspension bracket and system of steering is provided in the Head Podvesk and steering.

Check of shock-absorbers


  1. Park the car on the flat platform, switch off the engine and cock the parking brake. Check pressure in tires.
  2. Press a hand one of corners of the car and release a hand. Pay attention to the movement of a body. It has to cease to shake and come back to a starting position after one or two fluctuations.
  3. If the car continues to be shaken or did not come back to a starting position, then the worn-out shock-absorber is the possible reason of it.
  4. Repeat the procedure described above for each of three remained car corners.
  5. The car and reliably establish to Poddomkratta it on props.
  6. Examine shock-absorbers on existence of signs of leak of liquid. The easy film of liquid is not the reason for concern. In case of detection of leak make sure that liquid follows from the shock-absorber, but not, from where still. If all this leak from the shock-absorber, replace shock-absorbers in couple on one bridge (or all four).
  7. Check reliability of installation and integrity of shock-absorbers. Check the top support of racks for existence of damages and signs of wear. In case of detection of those replace racks.
  8. In case of need replacements of shock-absorbers address for instructions the Head Podvesk and steering. Always replace both components on one bridge. If it is possible, try to replace all four components in a set.

Check of a condition of system of steering and suspension bracket


  1. Examine components of system of steering on existence of damages and deformations. Pay attention to signs of leak of liquid, the damaged laying, protective covers and nipple connections.
  2. Clear the lower end of a rotary fist of dirt. Ask the assistant to take bottom edge of a wheel and to shake it, and at this time watch the movement of the spherical support connecting a rotary fist to the suspension bracket lever. Examine protective covers of spherical support on existence of gaps. At detection of a side play or the torn protective covers, the spherical support and its protective cover should be replaced.
  3. Take each of forward wheels for forward and back edges and try to turn it a first line inside, and back outside to check existence of a side play in the steering drive. If the side play is found, check whether fastenings of the steering mechanism and hinges of steering drafts weakened. Tighten the weakened fastenings. Worn-out hinges can be the cause of the weakened steering drafts (check at first reliability of tightening of nuts). Check of a side play of steering


  1. Establish a steering wheel in provision of the rectilinear movement.
  2. Move a steering wheel here and there, watching at the same time forward wheels. The steering wheel can have the maximum side play of 30 mm.
  3. At a bigger side play of a steering wheel check drafts of steering, the steering mechanism and a side play of bearings of a forward suspension bracket.
  4. Strongly move steering drafts a hand. Spherical hinges should not have a side play, otherwise replace hinges or steering drafts.

Check of tips of steering drafts, spherical support and covers of the steering mechanism


  1. Light with a lamp boots of the lower spherical support at the left and on the right and check them for existence of damages.
  1. Light with a lamp a boot of a tip of steering draft at the left and on the right and check it for existence of damages.
  1. In the presence of damages of boots for reasons of safety it is necessary to replace the corresponding hinge with a boot since pollution lead to destruction of the hinge.
  2. Strongly move steering drafts a hand in different directions. The hinge should not have side plays. Otherwise it is necessary to replace a tip of steering draft.
  3. Check reliability of tightening of lock-nuts of tips of steering drafts and a nut of fastening of a finger of the hinge, without rotating it.
  1. Check protective covers (3) helmsmen of the mechanism, if necessary replace them with new.
