Removal, dismantling, assembly and installation of forward power shafts

The wheel bearing can be damaged under car weight, for example at the movement of the car with the removed power shafts therefore in this case it is necessary to use special adaptation. After a detachment of power shafts from naves work accurately not to damage the gear rotors of sensors of speed of ABS located on shaft.

Special device for unloading of a nave of a wheel

Removal and installation

Components of forward power shafts

1 — the Right power shaft
2 — the Lock ring
3 — the Tip of steering draft
4 — the Left power shaft
5 — Collars
6 — Nizhny Novgorod the suspension bracket lever
7 — Protective covers
8 — the External holder
9 — Balls

10 — the Internal holder
11 — the Shaft of the internal CV JOINT
12 — the Boot
13 — the External lock ring
14 — the Boot No. 2
15 — the Shaft of the external CV JOINT
16 — the Pin
17 — ABS speed Sensor
18 — the Fixing cap
19 — the Left shaft

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove corresponding forward wheels.
  2. Lower ATF, having turned out a drain stopper from AT.
  3. Remove a casing of a wheel arch.
  4. Turn out a bolt and remove ABS speed sensor.
  5. Take a pin, take off the fixing cap and give a stupichny nut of a power shaft, having squeezed out a brake pedal.
  6. Disconnect a tip of steering draft from a rotary fist (see the Head Podvesk and steering).
  7. Disconnect the lower spherical support from the lower lever of a suspension bracket (see the Head Podvesk and steering).
  8. Accurately, trying not to damage a cover and a rotor of the sensor of speed of ABS, beat out the hammer with soft brisk a power shaft from a nave, delaying a nave outside.
  1. By means of special adaptation remove a power shaft.

Do not damage a protective cover and a boot.

  1. Installation is made upside-down. Tighten fixture with the required efforts. Pay attention to the next moments:
    • Oil gearbox the interfaced surfaces of a shaft of the internal hinge of equal angular speeds (CV JOINT) and the case of differential;
    • Before installation of a power shaft establish on it a sealing ring by a gap down;
    • After installation of a power shaft make sure available its free wheeling of 2 ÷ 3 mm of the axial direction;
    • After installation of a power shaft make sure that it cannot be taken out a hand, without special adaptation.
    • After installation check serviceability of functioning of ABS sensors, and also check and if necessary adjust the angles of installation of forward wheels.

Dismantling

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Check power shafts:
    • They should not have excessively big side play;
    • Make sure of smoothness of the movement of internal CV JOINTS in the direction of a support;
    • Make sure of lack of excessively big side play of internal CV JOINTS in the radial direction;
    • Check protective covers for existence of damages.
  2. By means of the screw-driver remove 2 collars of a protective cover of the internal CV JOINT and shift it to the external CV JOINT.
  1. Apply adjusting tags on shaft of internal and external CV JOINTS.

You do not put a tag with a chisel.

  1. Remove the screw-driver a lock ring and disconnect a shaft of the internal CV JOINT from a shaft of the external CV JOINT.
  1. Apply tags on a shaft of the external CV JOINT and on both holders.
  1. Turn out 6 bolts and shift an external holder towards the external CV JOINT.
  2. Remove a lock ring by means of a stripper and by means of the hammer and a pig from soft metal remove an internal holder, trying not to damage it.
  3. Remove an external holder.
  4. Remove a protective cover of the internal CV JOINT.
  5. By means of pincers or flat-nose pliers remove two collars of a protective cover of the external CV JOINT and then remove a cover.
  6. Remove a boot from a shaft of the internal CV JOINT: on left to a shaft – by means of the screw-driver and the hammer, and on right – by means of a special stripper, having clamped a shaft in a vice.
  7. By means of a stripper remove an external lock ring and a shaft of the internal CV JOINT.
  8. Fix a shaft of the external CV JOINT in a vice with soft sponges and by means of the screw-driver and the hammer remove a boot No. 2 from a shaft, trying not to damage ABS speed sensor rotor.

Assembly

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Napressuyte a new boot No. 2 on a shaft.
  1. Establish a new external lock ring on a shaft of the internal CV JOINT.
  2. Napressuyte on a shaft a new boot.
  3. Temporarily establish new covers of CV JOINTS with new collars.

Before installation of protective covers wind vents of a shaft of the external CV JOINT with a vinyl tape to prevent their damage. Establish collars on covers before their installation.

  1. Establish an external holder on a shaft of the external CV JOINT.

The party with a smaller diameter has to be turned to the external CV JOINT.

  1. Level tags on an internal holder and on a shaft then it is accurate to its napressuyta on a shaft by means of the hammer and a pig from soft metal.
  2. Establish a new lock ring of the bearing.
  3. Level tags on external holders and establish an external holder on internal. Establish 6 balls.
  4. Fill 115 ÷ 135 g of yellow lubricant in a cover of the external CV JOINT and establish a cover on a shaft of the external CV JOINT.
  5. Fill 95 ÷ 115 g of gray lubricant in a cover of the internal CV JOINT and establish a cover on a shaft of the internal CV JOINT.
  6. Combine tags on shaft of external and internal CV JOINTS and connect shaft.
  7. Establish a new lock ring and temporarily establish a cover on a shaft of the internal CV JOINT.
  1. Make sure that covers entered grooves on shaft, and also in lack of deformation of covers with a standard length of a power shaft.
  1. Fix covers on shaft by new collars: a cover of the internal CV JOINT – by means of the screw-driver, and a cover of the external CV JOINT – by means of special adaptation.
  1. Check gaps in locks of collars and if necessary adjust them.
  1. Check a power shaft.
